22March Become a supporter

You believe in Free Culture

Your organization believes in Free Culture and/or is deeply involved in the topic. You believe that Culture Freedom Day needs traction and are willing to help us with the promotional efforts by putting one of our web banners on your website.

Well first let us thank you for the help, as every contribution is important. And then let us make you an Official CFD Supporter in exchange, which will get you listed in our supporter section with a link back to your site as well.

It is that simple. Of course we have made a few banners available together with the source files, but please feel free to modify them or create your own to match your own site look & feel.

Rules

In order to avoid any misunderstanding we have drafted some simple rules hoping to cover the exact conditions to be able to participate and being listed:
  1. Offer reserved for non-profit projects
  2. The CFD web banner must be located on the front page in a rather visible position and remain there until CFD is over (May 18th, 2013)
  3. While not compulsory, informing your user base through email or special announcement about your participation in this program will be highly appreciated
  4. Once the web banner is up, simply create an account on the CFD website and post a participation request together with your organization logo in a vector format file (SVG highly preferred) or a link to your logos on your own website. Also a description of your project would be great, so we don't have to write it for you ;-)
  5. Once this is done we will review your application, ask any question if something is missing and add your logo in the supporter areas on our website within a couple of days. We will also add a link back to your website every time we display your logo
  6. Final approval to add any organization to the supporters list remain our decision and we will document any refusal.

Web Banners

The CFD web banners are available for our supporters to use. Please support us by placing one of the following banners in your web pages or blogs and have it linked back to www.culturefreedomday.org.

Events

Culture Freedom Day is scheduled for May 19th, 2012. Offcial event registration is opening and allow us to display all the events around the world. Please do take the time to read this website to learn more about Free Culture, ask questions and why not, consider organizing an event yourself!

Become a sponsor

By DonkeyHoteyCulture Freedom Day is organized by the same people involved in Software Freedom Day for the past 8 years, drawing celebrations in over 500 locations spread over 100 countries. We believe Free Culture needed a dedicated platform as artists concerns are not over the tools they use but more centered around the art they make. Having a clear focus will help Free Culture to gain the regonition it deserves and enable artists around the world to start discussing common issues. Of course this is really a celebration and we expect to draw a lot of members of the public to join and witness the power of Arts and Free Culture.

You run a business related to Free Culture and would like to benefit from the visibility of this international celebration to advertise your products or services to our community and website visitors, then please do contact us and we will provide you with our sponsorship brochure.

Why attend?

Culture Freedom Day is an event with hundreds of teams from all around the world running local events to help their communities understand Software Freedom. Check to see if there is already a team registered in your area. Perhaps there was an event in your area in previous years. If you want to form a team and run an event, simply check out the StartGuide and start pulling your team together and planning today!

All teams simply register online to be part of Software Freedom Day. Get your team leader to create your team page and then register the team.

Be sure to check out all the information on the Home Page that will give you all sort of useful links and ways to participate, like joining mailing lists and more. The StartGuide will give you all you need to know to ensure you have an awesome event, and make sure you update your SFD team page so people can find you.

If you are interested in helping out at a global level, get in contact with the SFI board.
Lastly, encourage your friends, family and associates to come to Software Freedom day, and use the opportunity to chat to them about software freedom matters, even to non-geeks :)

Happy Culture Freedom Day!

Register your event

Registration is not open yet. We are targeting the end of March to let organizers around the world set a marker on the CFD worldwide map and provide a description of what to expect for each event around the world.

Work in progress

The site is still heavily being worked on and you may experience some hiccups. Among the missing items which you won't find right now are:
  1. Event listing
  2. Event registration
  3. The wiki
  4. The start up guide
  5. Credits page
  6. Translations
All those should gradually pop up in the upcoming few days and hopefully satisfy your passionate hunger for more Culture Freedom Day stuff...
